Instructors
Teet Ilves
Started practicing in 1980 under the guidance of Peeter Saar and Olavi Kivirand. Forced to give up four years later due to service in Soviet army and prohibition of karate in the USSR. Teet took up karate again in 1987 in the soon to be founded Estonian Shotokan Association. There he was awarded a black belt and in 1998 a second dan according to the Japan Karate Association graduation system. After 17 years of Shotokan and championship karate he joined the KDS organization lead by sensei Mitsusuke Harada and founded the Estonian Karate-Do Shotokai (EKDS) Tallinn club where he continues to practice and teach. Teet was awarded KDS 5th dan in June 2013.
Erkki Aasa
Began his karate path in 1992 in a Tartu karate club to be known as Maeda. 8 years later he continued practicing in EKDS Tartu club and during 2005-2006 was also the head instructor in there. In 2006 Erkki moved to Tallinn and has been practicing in EKDS Tallinn club ever since. From 2010 he's also the assistant instructor. In the summer of 2014 he was awarded KDS 4th dan.
